(October 11, 2008)—A former Kaufman County teacher who pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday in federal court.

Chad Michael Hutchins, 29, of Forney will also serve a 15-year term of supervised release and must register as a sex offender, Chief U.S. District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater ordered.

According to court documents, Hutchins admitted that in June 2007 three of his home computers contained hundreds of images of child pornography.

Some depicted prepubescent minors and others portrayed sadistic and/or masochistic conduct.

Hutchins, who pleaded guilty in May, had more than 600 images, many obtained by using file-sharing software, prosecutors said.
