(October 11, 2008)—A soldier who was training with the Hawaii Army National Guard in preparation for deployment to the Middle East has collapsed and died after finishing a six-mile run at Fort Hood.
The soldier, whose name has not been released, was assigned to the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
He died Thursday, shortly after completing the run at a North Fort Hood training area.
The brigade to which he was assigned includes units from Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Saipan, and Arizona.
The Hawaii National Guard says the cause of death is undetermined and the incident is under investigation.
