(October 11, 2008) - Fort Hood officials are releasing the name of a soldier killed in an accident at the Army post's rail yard, Thursday.
Pfc. Matthew Sandberg, 20, of Leadville, Colorado was guiding a military vehicle when he was crushed by a rack assembly.
Sandberg was pronounced dead at the scene.
He joined the U.S. Military in October 2007 and was assigned to the 215th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Bridgade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since March 2008.
Sandberg's battalion was scheduled to deploy to Iraq at the end of 2008.
The incident is still under investigation.
