(October 21, 2008)—Temple police were investigating the seventh robbery in five days Tuesday.

The latest holdup occurred around 7 p.m. Monday at Lee Nails at 1221 S. 31st St.

An employee told officers a man entered the store, displayed a handgun and escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash from the registers and the tip jar.

The man was black, about 6-feet tall, had a thin build and was wearing dark clothing and a mask, police said.

No one was injured.

Just after midnight Monday, a Temple man was robbed of cash, jewelry and his cell phone at gunpoint at 2205 Curtis B. Elliott.

The robber injured his leg as he fled and used the cell phone to call 911.

He initially told officers he had been injured in a robbery, but investigators later discovered the cell phone he used to make the call was the same one taken in the robbery about 20 minutes before.

On Sunday, an 81-year-old woman was robbed in the garage of her home in the 4500 block of Stagecoach.

Early Saturday morning, a convenience store at 2219 S. 57th St. was robbed.

On Friday, robberies were reported at Texian Insurance and at a Cefco store at 605 N. 3rd St.

Friday night a Quik Stop store at 1510 E. Avenue H was robbed.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the robberies to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.

This makes me so mad. Im sure it is the same cowards that robbed the 81 year old lady...they think the people of Temple are easy targets. If somone would just pull a shotgun out from behind the counter and pop 'em then maybe that would send a loud and clear message to all the other no good thugs!
