(July 6, 2006)—Baylor University President John Lilley named Dub Oliver vice president of student life Thursday, a little more than a year after Oliver was given the job on an interim basis.

“Dub was the most qualified candidate for the position. He has a strong track record of success in providing leadership for all aspects of student life, consistent with the mission and vision of Baylor,” Lilley said in a prepared release.

Oliver succeeds Dr. Eileen Hulme, who left Baylor to join the faculty at Azusa Pacific University as an associate professor in the doctoral program in higher education leadership.

Oliver will continue to oversee the student life division, which includes campus life, residence life, student development and university ministries.

Oliver is a 1987 Baylor graduate who earned his masters and doctoral degrees from Texas A&M University.

He joined the Baylor staff as director of student activities in 1992 and became dean for student development in 2001.

“This opportunity is significant to me because I want to serve Baylor, to shape and influence an institution that has a transformative effect on its students’ lives, and to continue to fulfill God’s call on my life to be an educator, a call that I first discovered as an undergraduate here,” Oliver said.
