(October 28, 2008)—Police were investigating Tuesday after two men with a gun attempted to rob an 80-year-old Temple man.

The victim told officers he was outside his residence Sunday around 10:15 p.m. in the 500 block of East French when the two men approached.

One of the men, who had a bandana over his face, produced a gun and demanded money.

The victim managed to back away from the two men toward the gate of his home where his dogs were barking.

The would-be robbers left empty handed.

No one was injured.

Police were unable to locate the two men, the first of whom was black, about 20-years-old, 5-foot-7 and about 200 pounds.

He was wearing dark clothing and a blue bandana.

The second man was also black, about 5-foot-7 and thin.

He wore a white hooded sweatshirt.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the attempted robbery to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.

The attempt was the latest in a string of more than a half-dozen holdups or attempted holdups

Friday night, a robber struck the Sonic at 2012 S. 57th St.

On Thursday, employees of the LA Boutique used pepper spray that contained orange dye to thwart a robbery.

Thank GOD, the man was not injured or worse. Takes a real man to rob somebody. Why don't try getting a job and making money for the things you want? Instead of taking the cowardly way out and stealing from somebody!!

ANYONE that fits the description of these low life thugs walking the streets of Temple should be stopped by the police and questioned
