Nearly a million more voters are registered in Texas than were on the voter rolls for the March primary elections, and Central Texas counties are reporting increases as well.

(October 28, 2008)—The final count shows that 13.5 million voters are registered for the Nov. 4 General Election, 800,000 more than were registered for the March primaries, Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade said Tuesday.

More than 20,000 voters have registered since March in the two most populous counties in Central Texas.

In McLennan County, the number of registered voters increased from 127,893 in March to 134,780 in November.

In Bell County, the number increased from 146,690 in March to 162,177 in November.

“I am excited about the growth we have seen statewide in voter registrations since March,” Andrade said.

“Texans recognize the importance of this election and are already exercising their right to vote in record numbers during early voting.”
