(November 3, 2008)—Schools were locked down briefly Monday morning in Mexia after a home invasion robbery and shooting at 801 Ross Ave. that led to a chase through several Central Texas counties.

The lockdowns were ordered around 10 a.m. Monday and were lifted about 15 minutes later.

Details about the robbery and shooting were not immediately available, but reports indicate one person who lived in the home was shot and was taken to Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia and then transferred to a hospital in Waco.

Three men were arrested after a chase that ended when the car in which they were trying to elude officers left the road and crashed into a ditch at the intersection of Highway 14 and Medina Street in Bremond in Robertson County.

The three were returned to Limestone County and were being booked into the Limestone County Jail in Groesbeck Monday afternoon.

Looks like home invasions are on the rise! Almost everyday there seems to be something in the news about a home invasion. This may be another sign of a struggling economy! Get those gun permits while you still can!
