(November 3, 2008)—General Mills is voluntarily recalling one day’s production of its Progresso Hearty Tomato soup because of a labeling issue, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Monday.

The soup may contain allergens not listed on the label including egg, milk and soy, General Mills said.

The recall includes only 19-ounce cans of Progresso Hearty Tomato soup with the code “19May10 NV VN-3” on the bottom of the can.

Because of a production error, a limited number of cases of Progresso Light Vegetable and Noodle soup were mislabeled as Hearty Tomato soup.

Consumers allergic to egg, milk or soy products or who are unsure whether they’re allergic to those products should not consume soup with a Progresso Hearty Tomato label and the code date 19May10 NV VN-3 on the bottom of the can, General Mills said.

Affected consumers may contact General Mills for replacement or a full refund.

Consumers requesting refunds or calling with further questions should contact General Mills Consumer Services at 1-800-200-9377.
