(November 4, 2008)--Taxpayers picked up the $6,200 tab for a golf outing in Texas that included at least 14 executives from Fannie Mae just 22 days after the government bailed the troubled mortgage giant.

A spokeswoman for Fannie Mae says the golf outing was part of a customer advisory board meeting that had been scheduled in January and all activities such as this have since been canceled.

The 14 listed on the tee sheet included three Fannie Mae executives from Dallas, two from Chicago and one from Washington, D.C.

The station reports the outing at the Cowboys Golf Course in Grapevine cost $6,279.26 and Fannie Mae paid for 20 golfers.

Taxpayers also paid for towel service, a $1,700 buffet and a $555 bar tab.

U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling, who serves on the committee that oversees Fannie Mae, said, "I am outraged by this."

What needs to change is companies need to share the profit they make with the employees who help cause them to make a big profit, not give it to a CEO. Instead of taxing small businesses to give to those who don't pay any tax, give that money to the people who work for the company. That would create a great working environment and give workers a reason to be there everyday and work hard other than just their paycheck. Called motivation. And it does appear a lot of people's checkbooks got fat at taxpayers expense and one of them Obama. I didn't vote for him.

Nobody asked us to help pay this bill or even get an invite. Wish they would just stop taking our money out of our pockets to cover their tabs. UNFAIR!

WHY DIDNT I GET A CALL TO PLAY? HEY I PAID FOR SOME OF THAT - LEAST I COULD DO WAS GET SOME TOO .... LEAST THE BAR TAB WOULD HAVE REACHED 1K IF I WAS THERE ,..... UNOMASCERVASE'

We can be AGAINST the bailout all we want, I don't recall them asking "us"

Ask Obama how this happened. After all, Obama was at the head of the line when the piggies lined up at the Fannie and Freddie trough for campaign bucks and he got BIG $$$. Oh, and let's not forget that Fannie's CEO was on Obama VP search committee. And his stump speeches were " I don't care about big CEO's!!" LOL How many FOOLS have been fooled???

I wonder if Barney frank and Chris Dodd were there? Just think folks, those two are responsible for our financial meltdown with Fanie and Freddie, and now they along with Pelosi and Reid are free to pass any legislation they want, unchecked. But not to worry right? They have YOUR best intrest at heart...

this is EXACTLY why I was AGAINST the bailout. I knew somewhere, some agency would still turn around and give a great big, hypothetical, middle finger back to the citizens. GREAT JOB guys.

GOLFING as part of a board meeting?? That is a perfect example of the core problems with our economy today.... wasteful and needless spending, people in high places pocketing money, the consumer suffering as a result. It's not gonna change anytime soon with the person America just put into office.

Anyone up for a class action lawsuit against these idiots and AIG?

Posted by: MelP Location: Waco on Nov 4, 2008 at 05:45 PM
I am sure Obama is outraged because the money was used for golfing instead of lining his campaign pockets. He profited the most from Mae and Mac, so rightfully that golfing money should have been his.

I agree...They're having fun with our tax money and people are struggling to keep their houses. How does that makes any sense?

I guess they must not be so dumb thinking about it... they get the spa treatment and TAKE MY HOUSE away.. hummm Politics, doctors, lawyers.. I agree with P. Did everyone see that email describing how U.S. citizens should receive the money? It would have worked!!! Make those people pay the money back, every penny! We want to know the NAMES OF EACH EXECUTIVE RESPONSIBLE FOR SPENDING OUR MONEY!! I Dare someone to list their names...

Posted by: MARK Location: HEWITT on Nov 4, 2008 at 01:06 PM
Yeah that money could of helped me catch up on the one month past due payment im on with my mortgage thanks alot fannie mae. This is exactly why the bail out should have never been approved, should of let em all sink and burn. With the billions of dollars they gave the market they should have gave it to the american people to pay off their debt personally.

I dont give a dayum if they have been planning this since Clinton, its crap. Have any of you made plans and had to change them because "something" came up? They need to br brought up on fraud.

Posted by: p Location: mexia on Nov 4, 2008 at 11:48 AM
See if this money had gone to "the people" instead of bailing out the mortgage companies, people could have saved their houses instead of execs playing gof at a fancy resort. This is JUST WRONG!
