(November 4, 2008)—A six-month search for evidence in the slaying of a Blinn College coed has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Bryan man who was in custody Tuesday, charged with murder.

Jeremiah Rosser was arrested at his residence Monday morning in Bryan.

Jenna Verhaalen, 20, was found strangled in her apartment at the Autumn Woods Apartment Complex in Bryan.

According to court documents, Rosser's DNA was found under Verhaalen's fingernails and traces of his blood were found on the collar of her shirt.

Rosser said he was not in the apartment on the night of the murder and denies killing Verhaalen.

Police said they don't have a motive yet and said there is no apparent connection between the two, other than that Rosser worked at the apartment complex.

Rosser’s bond was set at $175,000.

i've known jermey for a long time and never thought he would be capable of something like this. whether you people think he did or didn't doesn't matter now. he'll have his day in court and his life is in gods hands.

Some of you people are ridiculous. His DNA was found under her fingernails and the blood on her shirt matched his. As someone mentioned before, DNA doesn't lie. The laptop stolen from someone's apartment in the same complex as Jenna's was found in his vehicle, he had access to the complex by the keys found in his possession. These are all strong connections. It doesn't matter what kind of person he may have come off as, half of the people suspected and found guilty of murder have had good reputations according to friends and family and don't fit the generalized characteristics of a murderer. He IS a low life and took someone else's life for his own gratification and it's only a matter of time before he's finally found guilty.

Press Release Thursday, November 6, 2008 Rosser arrested for Burglary of Habitation On 05/28/2008 at 1352 hours, the Bryan Police Department responded to a burglary of a habitation at Autumn Wood Apartment Complex located at 1612 Hollowhill Apt 1013. The victim reported to the officers that an unknown person entered his apartment and caused criminal mischief to the floor and a stole a Hewlett Packard laptop computer from the apartment. The victim was unable to provide any suspect information. On 11/03/2008, Jeremiah Matthew Rosser, W/M, DOB 02/26/1981 was arrested for the murder of Jenna Verhaalen. A search warrant was conducted at Rosser’s residence. Also included in the search was Rosser's vehicle. During the search of Rosser's vehicle, a HP laptop computer was found in the back seat. Evidence on the computer’s hard drive proved that the laptop belonged to the victim from apartment 1013. Also found in Rosser’s possession was a set of keys. One of the keys fit the lock to apartment 1013 at the time of the offense. The lock was changed after the victim moved out. On 11/05/2008, the Bryan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division served a burglary of a habitation warrant on Rosser for the possession of the stolen HP laptop computer. Rosser is currently in the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a $175,000 bond for murder. Rosser now has an additional $50,000 bond for burglary of a habitation. Burglary of a Habitation is a 2nd Degree Felony • Confinement for a term from 2 to 20 years in prison; and • an optional fine not to exceed $10,000.

Your right Rick, all we can do is wait and see. I could never have imagined that Jeremy could have done this either. Maybe they need to get the DNA checked again, by a different agency.

DNA lies if it comes from the Houston Crime lab...they always screw things up....I would have never imagined Jeremy doing somthing like this....but I guess we will see...

He is NOT a low life piece of trash! He did work at the apartment, but there is no personal connection. There is no motive. Blood types are fairly generic. Anyone ever hear about the rampant innaccuracies out of the HPD crime lab? Is that where they did the testing? This case hasn't gone to trial and has no final conclusion. Let the man have his day in court.

This man is innocent until proven guilty. What kind of frightening lynch mob is this? All you know are the 7 sentences from this article? Surely you have something else to go on to pronounce him guilty with a sentence of death. Let this man have his day in court and then feel free to say what you will. If he's found innocent, maybe you'll show enough honor to offer an apology to him and his family for your rash judgemetn.

Personal connection as in they knew each other. Has nothing to do with whether this low life piece of trash is guilty.

DNA doesn't lie. The man murdered her. He deserves the death penalty.

If he worked at her apartment complex, then in my book, that's a connection. Maybe he was a stalker, or a peeping-tom, or maybe he made advances that she turned down. Whatever the story, I definitely see a connection. Why do the police say the opposite?
