(November 6, 2008)--Police were looking for a suspect Thursday after a Temple man was attacked by a man who kicked in the door of his apartment and attempted to rob him.

It happened just after 9 pm. Wednesday in the 500 block of West Avenue G, police said.

The victim, who was not identified, told officers the man who burst into his apartment attacked him with something similar to an ice pick, police said.

The victim said he was able to fight off the attacker who fled south through the apartment complex.

A witness who saw the attack gave chase, but was unable to catch the would-be robber, police said.

The victim received several small puncture wounds to his upper body, but not require immediate treatment, police said.

Investigators recovered what police said was a realistic model handgun, which the robber dropped during the struggle with the resident.

The man for whom police are looking is black, standing about 5-foot-5, and weighing about 180 pounds.

He was dressed completely in black, police said.

The incident is the latest in a series of robberies and attempted robberies in Temple.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.

To bad the thug got away, that's why I always keep a gun close by even in the house. These days you cant be to careful. One of these days that punk will kick in the wrong door and the police wont have to worry about finding, he will be dead on the floor.
