(November 10, 2008)—The Fugitive Unit of the Texas Attorney General’s Office has arrested six convicted sex offenders who violated the terms of their paroles on Halloween night.

The arrests were part of Operation Safe Halloween, which targets convicted sex offenders whose paroles require them to avoid trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.

“With young Texans out trick-or-treating, these sexual predators were under specific orders governing their Halloween night activities,” Attorney General Greg Abbott said Monday.

James Monroe Turner, 61, of Houston, was arrested last Thursday for failing to reporting as required on Halloween night. Turner was convicted in 1993 of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Harris County.

James Allen Smith, 53, of Pasadena, was arrested last Wednesday for failing to remain at his residence on Halloween night as required by his parole. Smith was convicted in 1978 of indecency with a child in Brazoria County.

James Benjamin Jodon, 66, of Friendswood, was arrested the day after Halloween for violating his parole by having lights on and Halloween decorations at his residence on Halloween night. Jodon was convicted of indecency with a child by sexual contact in 1992 in Harris County.

Lawrence Joseph Simmons, Jr., 67, of Houston, was arrested last Wednesday for committing a curfew violation. Simmons was convicted of indecency with a child by sexual contact in 1988 in Galveston County.

Michael Todd Phillips, 46, of Dallas, was arrested on Nov. 3 for failing remain at his residence on Halloween night as required by the terms of his parole. He was on the sex offender caseload because of a 1979 conviction for attempted rape of a child.

Larry Miller, Jr., 37 of Austin, was also arrested on Nov. 3 for not being at his residence on Halloween night. Miller was convicted in 1986 of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Travis County.

See if the supreme court would implement the death penalty in these cases we wouldn't have to hunt people down for Halloween violations or worry that they ever hurt any of our children again.

When you cut the two little rounds things in a bag that hangs down below off of a sex offender, in a very short time they become NOT a sex offender. Problem solved with very little expense. At what price do we stop and think about our kids? Enough!
