(November 18, 2008)-- A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in federal detention centers in Willacy County.

The indictment criticizes Cheney's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers and accuses the vice president of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees by working through the prison companies.

The indictment accuses Gonzales of using his position while in office to stop an investigation into abuses at the federal detention centers.

Another indictment charges state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. with profiting from his public office by accepting honoraria from prison management companies.

The indictments were first reported by KRGV-TV.

If it can be proven that Chaney and Bush were not doing their work as our elected leaders properly, then we will be able to prosecute all of you at a Grand Jury for loss of lives on 9/11. These two protected your grandchildren, but this President called off the investigation connected with the American bred Muslim who killed a recruit who was signing up to defend you and me. Obama told Egyptian hearers that he was born and bred at first as a Muslim; go figure out the rest of this mess for yourself.

Holy cow. What amazes me is how half these idiots (Cindy, THAT GIRL, Chris) blame president Bush everything. Like the D.A. congress had no say in anything. Based on the intel at the time, Saddam was a credible threat. Several years later everyone is an expert in Mid-East policies and everyone knows about WMD. Im betting that back in 2001, the aforementioned trio (we'll call them the 3 stooges), couldnt even SPELL WMD and now they will speak of knowing all along that Saddam had none. Lets forget the speeches made by the Clintons (both), Reid, Pelosi and Biden, et al, all stated that Saddam Hussien WAS a threat, DID have WMD, had USED them to wipe out Thousands of people. Did anyone stop to think that he had YEARS to get rid of the stuff because the weak kneeded UN and Clinton administration just kept saying please. You better pull your heads out before you suffocate. And to Rose - Chris is not a political moron because he doesnt agree with George, but he is a political moron.

Rose, where is the substance in your comment idiot? Cindy, did you forget that congress voted to go to Iraq or are you just dumb? ( Before Clinton left office he said Saddam had WMDs) ***shaking head at the ignorance here***

The gov. report said saddam had nothing to do with 911 and oops we found no weapons of mass destructions I am sorry to all you parents husbands and wives who lost your love ones!! let's go after the real terrorists Osoma Bin Laden

Posted by: THAT GIRL Location: WACO on Nov 19, 2008 at 03:17 PM
WELL...BUSH GOT OUT OF THE SUBPEONA STATING THAT HE CLAIMED IMMUNITY AND SHORTLY AFTER IS WHEN ALL THESE LAWYERS GOT FIRED, PEOPLE STARTED TO STEP DOWN, GONZALEZ WAS BUSH'S PUPPET, WHY ARENT THEY GOIN FOR BUSH...WHY SETTLE FOR THE VICE PRESIDENT, BUSH SHOULD PAY FOR ALL THE WRONG DOING THAT HE HAS PUT ALL OF US THROUGH. CAUSE IN REALITY ITS ALL HIS FAULT WHY WE WERE OVER THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE, IF HE DIDNT HAVE HIS HANDS ALL THEIR POCKETS NONE OF THE EVENTS THAT HAUNT US WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED--GOING BACK TO BUSH #1

Expect more BS indictments from the liberals. Seems somewhere I heard Obama say (repeatedly ad naseum) about CHANGE. This is the change he was talking about (partly). The change from law and rules to political payback for Bill Clinton's federal conviction in court for perjury. And the Democrats wonder why no one believes they want what is best for the country? 1) Promising to prosecute George Bush for DARING to defend America. 2) Cut and Run on our wariors defending America. 3) Refusing to fund our troops in a war. 4) Promising to cut any new weapons developement so they can send the money to welfare recipiants. 5) Creating a "NEW REGIME" in Washington D.C. by retreading all the Clinton appointments. 6) Promising to solve "Global Warming" (oops Climate Change, oops New Ice Age or whatever this weeks name is) by destroying the American economy when it is already in recession. 7) Raising taxes on ALL INCOMES. 8) Taking away the Bill of Rights, especially the 2nd Amendment!

Chris, the corporate executive's pig feast may be coming to a halt but the Democrat Congress PIG FEAST is just beginning. I hope you have the financial means to make it though the next 4 yrs. Your ignorance of "Bush shredding the constitution" is pitiful and pathetic.

Funny,,,, I always thought criminals were put into Prisons to be punished??? They finally 'gave up' on Rehabilitation!! Which was a 'total' waste of time!! Back-To-The-Future!!

Hey Chris You are a Political Moron...

Posted by: ray Location: killeen on Nov 19, 2008 at 09:23 AM
yeah lets spend millions to find him not guilty,

Posted by: Chris Location: Texas on Nov 19, 2008 at 09:19 AM
It's ridiculous how Republicans will defend criminal behaviour so long as it was comitted under their party banner. The Bush administration shredded the constitution, wreaked havoc on the economy and basically turned the country into The Corporate State of America. I'm very excited that The UNITED States of America overwhelmingly demonstrated that the corporate executive's pig feast is over - it's time to get the REAL America back on track!

Has anyone thought about this? Vanguard Group is a mutual fund manager. They hold interest in multiple different companies across the globe. They hold stocks in oil companies, medical companies, telecom companies, retailers, etc... Cheney has his retirement invested in Vanguard group, just like millions of other joe six pack Americans like you and me. Does this mean each one of us should be indicted? If I were the taxpayers of Willacy County, I would demand a reimbursement of my tax dollars used on this idiotic rant by the lame-duck District Attorney. That would be fighting government waste and corruption...

Posted by: Patriot Location: Texas on Nov 19, 2008 at 08:43 AM
william.... Well said!!! Sounds to me like some Mexican Mafia thug inmates are trying to cry "foul" to gain more leverage in Texas. This indictment is so ridiculous, it's waste of time and money.

Posted by: Kris Location: Waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 08:09 AM
Hmmph. I am sure the soon to be former VP is guilty of a whole lot more. Good riddance.

Posted by: mj Location: waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 08:04 AM
What about his conflict of interest with the Halliburton contracts?

Posted by: Bob Location: Belton on Nov 19, 2008 at 07:38 AM
Abuse huh, wow did I miss something here? How many of them had there heads cut off, how many of them were drug through the streets and then hung up for display?

Posted by: wolf Location: DC on Nov 19, 2008 at 06:43 AM
William at 11:43, I haven't seen proof of your innocence. Why don't we make you number 1001, just to be on the safe side?

Posted by: william Location: waco on Nov 18, 2008 at 11:43 PM
If the vice president allowed illegal interogation of 1000 prisoners which resulted in saving the life of one US serviceman he has my vote. GOOD JOB!!!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: waco on Nov 18, 2008 at 11:38 PM
You cant charge someone with agg assult with a deadly weapon unless there is proof of malicious intent. In other words an accident is an accident. Just think about it.

Posted by: no name on Nov 18, 2008 at 07:38 PM
Nothing will happen to any of them, they are too politically connected. The VP already walked away from an aggrivated assult with a deadly weapon when he shot his friend.

Posted by: Sad Day Location: in the U.S.A. on Nov 18, 2008 at 06:13 PM
This is cowardly for the grand jury to bring these charges on NOW as Cheney's about to leave office. Why not sooner? It's a SAD DAY when prisoners have more rights than the Vice President of the United States of America.

Posted by: Yep Location: CT on Nov 18, 2008 at 05:38 PM
Considering that Willacy County is very near the border, the prison probably has mostly illegals. "Conflict of interest" ... give me a break!! "At least misdemeanor assaults"?? What did Cheney do, go down there and slap an inmate?? What a pitiful trumped up charge!! Yep, The country going to h*ll fast!

Posted by: me Location: copperas cove on Nov 18, 2008 at 05:12 PM
Now let's see about indicting Bush for raping all of us for the past 3 years with the gas prices. I will admit I may not be the most educated person on this planet but when gas goes from nearly $4 per gallon to $1.79 in 3 months that BS and somebody outta do something to Bush for that cuz you know he had his hand in that oil pie!

Posted by: News Watcher Location: Waco on Nov 18, 2008 at 05:01 PM
Good Luck on that one!!!!
