(November 18, 2008)—The McLennan County District Attorney’s Office has dropped an aggravated robbery charge against star La Vega High School running back Christopher Dantae Parr, 17, who was freed on bond in September after spending almost a month in the McLennan County Jail after his arrest.

Parr was charged in connection with the armed hold-up of Lonnie Sawyer, 19, who told police he was robbed around 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 23 in the 5200 block of Concord Road in Bellmead.

The District Attorney’s Office said the criminal complaint against Parr was dropped after the teenager passed a polygraph test last week.

Prosecutors also said Parr’s statement on what happened on Aug. 23 was consistent with statements from other witnesses.

The high school junior’s bond was originally set at $75,000, but was later reduced.

Parr did not play this season.

La Vega faces Tyler Chapel Hill in a playoff game Saturday in Mesquite.

Yes, Chris was out on the field and he did a fantastic job. The whole team did a great job and I was happy to see all the players working so well together. Guys stick together and do not worry about the haters.

Amazing to me just how quickly this guy is released from school DAEP and back on the field a day later. I'm sure the UIL has this school under investigation. All you can hope is that Coach WW has everything in order or the innocent team players will pay. So sad for the team, is no one looking out for the TEAM.

I hope he overcomes wanting to be a thug like some of his family. The influence is greater to be a thug, than people know.

I agree Jess, so many comments on here are misconstrued as Racist but arent. That monitor comments was dispicable. I do however have one question for you...how do you KNOW I am not perfect? lol

Posted by: Louise Location: Hewitt on Nov 20, 2008 at 11:56 AM
To me in Killeen @2:07 Did Christopher really deform someone's character? Amazing!

Posted by: Mike Location: Temple on Nov 20, 2008 at 05:48 AM
This boy is will be the "Packman" and in about 5-6 years Jerry Jones will hire him.

Posted by: Jess Location: Killeen on Nov 20, 2008 at 01:37 AM
Most of the these comments about this person is so childish...it almost makes me want to puke. Ya'll don't even know this person well enough to be saying all the negativity you say about him! Someone posted, "look at his face"...ok? What do you expect him to do while locked up and innocent...smile like he won a million bucks? LOL give me a break people. I am just going to cut it clean to most of these idiots comments...ya'll just see this as an excuse to put out your stupid racial comments about him. "he looks all black to me...must be my old monitor". SHUT UP! If you want to criticize someone, say something smarter than that, like you received some education in your life once before. Anyway, if he is innocent, then let it be and let it go. Oh, and one more thing, you all are not perfect yourself, so think before you type things about people.

I feel bad for this young man and the reason is if you can read: another person lied about the incident. I sure would not want someone lying on me and get arrested. If we assume anyone who gets arrested is guilty already, no matter who we are, we are in serious trouble. I notice people are ruthless and quick to ruin reputations. Shame on all of you. God bless you son and best thing you can do for yourself is find a new set of friends and it's better to have none than to have friends like the one who lied about you.

What a bunch of heartless, cruel perfect people. The kid that he "stole his shoes & hat with a gun" lied to police to get even with him for beating up his brother. I was one who had bad mouthed him, now hes is innoncent, I feel bad I hope this is an eye opener & hopefully will get is life straightened out. People get over it!!!!

HEY DONNY, I HOPE THAT HE DOES IN FACT PROVE EVERYONE WRONG AND THIS WAS AN EYE OPENING EXPERINCE FOR HIM. I HATE TO SEE SUCH TALENT WASTED. MY THOUGHT AND PRAYERS GO OUT HIM AND HIS FAMILY!!!

Posted by: Mother Location: Waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 03:28 PM
There are a lot of people that owe this young man an apology for tearing him apart and saying all those negative things against him when this happen the 1st time around, he must be innocent!

Posted by: Imagine Location: Waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 03:10 PM
Chris may not be the ideal kid, but he not only passed a polygraph; his story was consistent with witnesses. Ever think that some kid yelled "wolf" and the police did not want to look "slow" on arresting a football star because you people would start critizing. So, Chris had his life disrupted, was put in alternative school, and was not allowed to play football (which is a positive pass time). Now, he gets bashed, instead of being supported. Chris, I wish you the best in the future and hope that you can turn this bad situation into something positive.

Posted by: Angelia Location: Waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 02:10 PM
WOW!! I can't believe this...charges were dropped? I guess football is the only part of his future we can foresee!!

Posted by: me Location: Killeen on Nov 19, 2008 at 02:07 PM
I hope the best for this young man. He deserves restitution for the 30 days spent in jail. And Christopher, if I were you, I would leave McLennan county behind me along with the the deformation of character you have been labeled with. Good Luck, Stay in School and find new friends.

Back when this clown was arrested I stated then that he'd never server time. He would either be let off completely or the charge reduced to a traffic fine. Looks like I was right......

Posted by: Donny Location: Waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Hey, George. I own several guns. If he blows it, and I'm the victim, then he'll be the victim...there's NO love for him, just the point of letting HIM prove himself. So, whatever point you're trying to make to me, save it. I have my personal opinion, you have yours.

Belton JV Quaterback accused of stealing a car.....1 million dollar bond set, dies in Bell Country jail after being denied life saving medication and medical care .................La Vega running back gets charges dropped after a lie detector test and back in time to play in the play offs. Yeah........that seems fair.

Hey Donny in case you didnt notice he got his chance you speak of and when he blows it, lets hope its you he does harm to, considering your love for this waste of space.

Posted by: Donny Location: Waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 09:51 AM
So what, the charges were dropped...and so what, if he's been if trouble before. Maybe some of you that criticize and chastize him for what happened need to get on you knees and ask for forgiveness for your attitude. Maybe I'm wrong, but just maybe this has been an eye-opening experience for this young man, and has been a hard lesson learned. Before you make your negative impressions and comments, let's just see what happens with this. I understand he will NOT be playing this season...he is actually not needed, as the La Vega football team has proven itself worthy of the playoffs by beating quality teams in the process. So, get off of it, give the young man a chance, and let HIM prove us right or wrong.

seems to me 'star high school running back' had a lot to do with charges dropped.maybe 'some body' didn'think the team could make it without him and pulled strings...

All hail the almighty football. What a joke! Nothing will change until we place education and the law above Friday night football. And I agree with Anonymous, a future criminal for sure.

WHY? WHY? WHY? are now afraid we will offend some blacks because we now have a black president?? We need to wake up and see what is going on in our world.Or is it already too late??

When you hang around crap it will always get on you ,so we'll see what will happen next, and see if he learned a lesson.

What a bunch of hateful comments. Almost hate to agree...almost. I hate it when these rich republicans get out of trouble....oh wait, wrong one. I hate it when hoodlum thigs get off cause they are good in sports. And before you say it, a polygraph is not admittible in court for a reason.

Posted by: John Location: waco on Nov 19, 2008 at 07:34 AM
Look at who's face? Wait, there is someone in that picture. It looks all black to me, must be my old monitor.

Posted by: RAINMAN Location: AROUND on Nov 19, 2008 at 04:23 AM
This kid will be seen again in the friday night spotlight!!! You can bet on that, the WACO "POLICE" will picking this punk up again, but whats gonna be sad someone will loose their life messing with this piece of crap...

Posted by: Anonymous Location: killeen on Nov 19, 2008 at 01:46 AM
Yeah just in time for the playoffs. His team got them their but know he will get to play for his school even though they could win without him all year. Coach I would think twice about taking a cold hearted person like this back on to the team were it could cause term oil within the team. I agree with everyone here that he will be seen again for another crime he does look like a Punk. Know since he got off with a polygraph test everyone is going to be trying to get off they are not 100% correct all the time, didn't they have more on him then just this to keep him in jail for so long. The police of this county need to rethink their crime investagations.

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 18, 2008 at 10:28 PM
yes you will see this PUNK again!! he is a crack head and future TDC inmate!! i'm sure it will be a family reunion when he gets there!!

Posted by: William Location: Salado on Nov 18, 2008 at 08:09 PM
So passing a polygraph test will free you, he has no feelings, just look at his face. I hope that someone remembers this kids face, I have a feeling that we will be seeing him again in the future.

Posted by: Yep Location: CT on Nov 18, 2008 at 06:17 PM
Yep, no surprise here. I think we'll be seeing alot of this {get off free} in the next 4 yrs.
