(November 20, 2008)—Trouble continues for a local barbeque restaurant where just weeks ago employees staged a protest after they went unpaid for nearly a month.

What used to be the Dickey's Barbecue restaurant on Valley Mills Drive in Waco is now closed, at least temporarily.

Dickey's Corporate office says the Waco location has no affiliation with the Dickey's Franchise.

The owners told News 10 the restaurant should reopen in about a week as Barbeque Bill’s.

“Everything that we do from here will be positive. Everything that happened with Dickey’s goes away with Dickey's and now we're moving forward,” said David Powell, General Manager.

The payroll issues persisted up to Wednesday’s closure.

One employee told News 10 the bank from which her paycheck was issued refused to cash the check due to insufficient funds. She was later paid from the cash register and then quit.

The Dickey's Corporation won't say why the franchise was pulled or confirm whether it was the pay issues or other problems that led to the decision.

I am still waiting on child support funds to be paid that were garnished from wages. OAG is not helping at all; everytime I call the OAG office, they tell me to call back in two weeks? This so called POS human being is holding over $1000 of my daugthers child support money. How does he live with himself? I have hired an attorney now, so hopefully I can get him some jail time. That is my ultimate goal!
