(November 21, 2008)—A teenager in South Florida who blogged about his plans to kill himself has committed suicide in front of a live online Web camera, police say.

Broward County Medical Examiner's Office investigator Wendy Crane said Abraham Biggs, 19, died Wednesday from a toxic combination of opiates and benzodiazepine, which is a depressant used to treat insomnia.

People watched through a body building Web site as Biggs took the drugs and Crane said some were encouraging, while others tried to talk him out of it, and a few debated whether the dose he took was lethal.

Crane said someone notified the moderator, who traced the teenager's location and called police.

Biggs was lying dead on a bed by the time officers arrived.

He was wanting attention. He figured someone would call 911 before he died but no one took him serious. So his death should be blame on no one but him. Kids now days think they are invisible. He's totally at fault.

Yes it was his own son's fault. Parents should pay close attention to what younger children do on the internet, I'm sure a minor was watching this (and by minor I mean under the age of 14/15). Parents need to get hip to the internet generation and set limits to what they're children have access to.

Please tv and movies. I could see if the boy was 8 years old and did something like that...then maybe we could say it was tv or movies. This boy was 19 years old..he is old enough to know what he is doing. this boy obviously had a problem. god bless his family and may god have mercy.

I agree with Kristan They didnt know if he was really doing it or not he could have put some kind of candy They couldnt tell. And also on the news they said he had talked about doing this and made jokes about it so they just thought he was acting. You have to find out what was going on with this young man you cant say its the parents or the internet it just could have been him...

Why is the dad blaming the people on the internet? IT'S HIS OWN SON's FAULT. His son was the one who actually did it on the internet. Besides, how would people know he was actually doing it? He could have been faking it.

People will do anything for attention but truth be known he most likely didn't plan this on his own! Chances are he has seen this on t.v. or a movie..

I agree that what happened is sad. It is also sad that the family couldnt get him help. I dont see the need to punish people who were on the website. How many of us actually know the person/persons we are talking to online? How are we to know what you do in your own home and how much you SAY you do is real? You cant blame the people on the website for not helping when his own family knew he was ill and could do nohting. In my experience if someone wants to die there isnt a lot that can be done to stop it. Eventually if the want is great enough they can make it happen no matter where they are and who is watching. He was a sick young man and I hope he found what ever peace he was looking for.

Why O why did people watch this and encourage it? What a sad and sick story!

And why did this guy feel the need to broadcast this on live web-cam? What people will do for attention.

I agree with cs/texas the people that watched this should be punished.. The fact that someone could sit and watch someones "baby", brother, friend, and watch them slowly die, leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I hope these people have nightmares about this. And to the family the questions will always go unanswered and the void in your life will always be, but may God bless you, and to his friends there nothing you could done (unless you watched it) just remember the good times. Peace be with you and yours

That is a shame. why would a child want to take his or her own life. Are things really that bad in the world these days that you have to take your own life. Was there a reason for that.
