Bush Brings Along Some Books On Ranch Trip

(August 5, 2006)--President Bush's reading list for his vacation at his Texas ranch includes a Pulitzer Prize-winning book by a UT professor.

“Polio: An American Story'' tells the story of the disease in the 1940s and 50s and was written by University of Texas historian David M. Oshinsky.

Mr. Bush's other two books were about Republican Party hero Abraham Lincoln, ``Lincoln: A Life of Purpose and Power,'' by Richard Carwardine, and ``Lincoln's Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural,'' by Ronald C. White Junior.

Mr. Bush is taking about 10 days of vacation at the ranch, where in years past he has spent most of the month of August.
