Good morning, it’s Saturday, Nov. 29, the 334th day of 2008. There are 32 days left in the year. The forecast calls for clouds and a slight chance of light rain this afternoon with highs in the lower 60s. Light rain is possible tonight, too, with lows in the mid 40s.
Forty-seven years ago today, on November 28, 1961, a chimp named Enos was launched into space aboard the Mercury-Atlas 5 spacecraft, which orbited Earth twice before returning. Once chimp and capsule were recovered, observers said Enos jumped for joy and dashed around the deck of the recovery ship, shaking the hands of his rescuers. The flight was a dress rehearsal for the first flight by a human. Lt. Col. John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth on Feb. 20, 1962.
