(November 28, 2008)- The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of a fire that claimed the life of an elderly disabled Central Texas man.
Meanwhile, his family is trying to come to terms with their devastating loss.
One of 81-year-old Curtis Edwards' cousins went to take him a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day.
That's when his body was found inside his burned down home on South Edwards Lane near Franklin.
Investigators will continue searching the charred remains of Edwards' house for any clues as to the cause of that fire, believed to have started either late Wednesday or early Thursday.
Family members say Edwards had become disabled in recent years, and initial reports show Edwards may have been trapped by the flames.
His first cousin, Lorene Edwards, says not only did Curtis grow up with her, but then helped her raise her children and grandchildren.
She now has no photos or memorabilia of her cousin left, but she says her family will preserve his memory in their hearts.
Family will most likely hold his graveside service next Saturday at Pin Oak Cemetary near Franklin.
