Criminal Charges Possible In Wal-Mart Worker’s Death Save Email Print

A | A | A

(November 29, 2008)--Criminal charges could be filed in the death of a Wal-Mart Worker who was trampled by a crowed of early-morning shoppers Friday, police in Long Island, N.Y. said.

Investigators are reviewing video from surveillance cameras in an effort to see which shoppers knocked the man down as they burst through the doors in a pre-dawn buying frenzy.

A Nassau County police spokesman admits that identifying individual shoppers may be difficult.

An estimated 2,000 people had gathered outside the store before it opened at 5 a.m.

Witnesses and police say other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the injured man, even as customers stepped over him as he lay on the ground.

At least four other people, including a pregnant woman, were taken to hospitals for observation or treatment of minor injuries.

The 34-year-old worker was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 6 a.m.

The exact cause of death has not been determined.

I guarantee you more than half of those people who trampled over him KNEW that they were trampling over a human being, but did nothing about it. It could have been a child, but that wouldn't have concerned them. I bet it was on the back on each of their minds of what they have done, but instead they went towards the shelves and stocked up their carts and went on their merry way. Please identify every single person that did this and have them prosecuted. Not one should get away...NOT ONE! Also, Black Friday should definitely be banned because trust me, next Christmas this just might happen once again...AND WE DON"T NEED THAT!

I am speechless. What a horrible, tragic and unnecessary death! I completley concur every one of the individuals that rushed the entrance should be held accountable for their despicable behavior. Where is the humanity?

What the heck does a freakin WALMART offer that is worth a human life. Is a big screen TV worth that much?? Prosecute these idiots and set a presedent to all the other money hungry heathens. Holy Hannah what the heck is this world coming to?

I agree that black Friday should be banned. However, I am more concerned with the economic strata that particular store served. Such incidents are horrible at best, but the only way to stop human greed is to take a hard look at core values.

Heck yes, charges should be filed against the "idiots" that trampled this walmart worker to death. I hope they are able to identify who they are!

Bunch of greedy animals...no excuse, need to prosecute!

The store should have been put on lockdown, and every customer that shoved their way inside the store should be charged with murder..PERIOD!! Black Friday should be outlawed. People act like total jackasses and have no regard for their fellow man. This poor worker lost his life because someone wanted to save a few bucks...this is just sad!!!
