Central Texas Woman Pleads Guilty To Bank Robbery Save Email Print

(December 1, 2008)--A Central Texas woman who prosecutors say robbed several Austin-area banks with her then16-year-old son was sentenced to 35 years in prison Monday.

A judge Monday in Georgetown sentenced Diedre Lynn Blackburn, 46, of Pflugerville after she pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery.

Williamson County District Attorney John Bradley said Blackburn admitted that she and her son had robbed four banks since last December.

Her 35-year prison terms, on each count, will run concurrently.

Charles Blackburn Jr., who is now 17 and was tried as an adult, was sentenced in November to 30 years in prison after he was convicted of two counts of aggravated robbery.

Prosecutors say the teen wielded a BB gun during two holdups in January 2008.

His sentences also will run concurrently.

Police say the mother confessed that she was the getaway driver.

The two were arrested in January
