(December 2, 2008)—A late-afternoon fire Tuesday in Waco heavily damaged a house in the 2200 block of McFerrin Avenue.
It was the third major fire of the day in Waco.
Two people were home when the fire broke out.
Both escaped safely.
A half-dozen fire trucks were dispatched to the house.
The fire heavily damaged the rear portion and garage of the home.
A car in the garage was also damaged.
Flames spread to the backyard of a neighboring house, but those were extinguished.
Early Monday, Waco firefighters responded to a fire at the Landmark apartment complex that damaged four units and left four families homeless.
About an hour later, Waco firefighters were dispatched to a fire that gutted a vacant house at the intersection of Orchard and Walnut.
All three fires are under investigation.
