(December 3, 2008)—Bosqueville Elementary School is one of 26 schools nominated for Blue Ribbon honors, Education Commissioner Robert Scott announced Wednesday.
The Blue Ribbon award is presented to schools that help students excel and that are making significant progress in closing the achievement gap.
Over the past 26 years, more than 5,800 schools around the country including almost 500 in Texas have received the award.
To be selected, 40 percent of a school’s students must be economically disadvantaged and student performance on state tests must show dramatic improvement or students, regardless of background, must perform in the top 10 percent on state tests.
The award winners will be announced in September 2009.
