(December 8, 2008)--The Waco Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a local mattress store this weekend.

The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Sam's Mattress Outlook near the Circle on La Salle Avenue.

The front of the building is charred and the attic is gutted.

Burned bed frames were lying in front of the damaged building.

A Waco Fire Department investigator says the rest of the building suffered smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined.

Jester's On La Salle is less than 15 feet away and the pool hall's owner, John Massangale, says he's thankful that the flames didn't spread.

He wasn't at his business when the fire broke out, but says the owner of a flea market across La Salle saw the flames, and called 911.
