(August 17, 2006)—A terminal was evacuated Thursday at the airport in Wayne County, W. Va. after a bomb-sniffing dog reacted to a bottle of some sort of liquid in a passenger’s luggage.
Airport officials say a screener at Tri-State Airport noticed the bottle in a woman’s carry on-bag as she prepared to board a flight to Charlotte, N.C.
The liquid in the water bottle screened positive for an explosive material and a second test confirmed the finding, the Transportation Safety Administration reports.
State troopers set up a perimeter around the airport as more than a hundred passengers were moved to a nearby parking lot and commercial flight service was temporarily suspended.
The FBI was investigating Thursday afternoon.
