(January 2, 2009)--A 28-year-old Texas man abducted his ex-girlfriend, shot her to death in a grocery store, and then later crashed a car into the front of a Wal-Mart and killed himself.

The deadly series of events began Tuesday afternoon when Moises Gonzalez abducted Maura Marroquin, 23, of Rio Grande City at gunpoint.

Police say he then stole several cars as officers pursued him through several South Texas cities.

The San Antonio man wound up in a Harlingen grocery store, where police said he shot Marroquin.

Police say Gonzalez next drove a stolen Cadillac into a Weslaco Wal-Mart and killed himself.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots as the vehicle crashed through the front of the store.

About six people suffered minor injuries as the vehicle plowed through the checkout aisles.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said he has never seen a more violent crime spree in the Valley in more than 20 years as a law enforcement officer.

If you are going to kill YOURSELF, then go off by YOURSELF and do it to YOURSELF! Suicide does not have to be a group project!
