(January 3, 2008) - Mart police are investigating an incident late Friday night that sent one person to the hospital with severe injuries.

Police say Mart High School quarterback Xavier Williams was involved in the incident and suffered minor injuries.

Officers wouldn't say if more football players were involved.

According to police, the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute that was reported at about 10 p.m.

A group of people arrived at a home at the 200 block of Lumpkin Street in Mart where a fight broke out.

When officers arrived at the scene, between 10-20 people were at the scene around the fight.

One person was taken to the hospital with broke bones and severe bruises.

Police are still investigating what happened and expect arrest warrants to be filed Monday.

Williams was one of seven finalists for the KWTX Central Texas Football Player of the Year award.

Just another example of how these star athletes think they are above the law and everybody else.

What does this have to do with football? The season is over and has been over for a while. This happened OUTSIDE of school and the school has NO responsibility for it at all. This has nothing to do with sports or coaches or anything else. A bad choice was made and consequences will be paid. Keep the school and football out of it. If anything that is a Positive in these kids lives!

Just says that the quarter back was involved. Well who else was involved? How was he involved details we need details!

#1 What happened to Innocent until proven Guilty? #2 It wasn't during, or at the school, so why should the school be involved? #3 Mart has been a great place to raise my four kids. Two have already graduated, and two are still in school at Mart, and my husband is a teacher there. I wouldn't have them at any other school. We are not a rich school, but for the most part, the kids are raised by the community. Meaning that if they are doing something they shouldn't be, the parents usually know by the time the kid gets home. The mistakes of a couple of people doesn't mean the whole town is trash. There are plenty of other towns with troubles, for instance, Meridians principle buying cell phones for a student...that is sick! But does that mean the whole town of Meridian is buying cell phones with the same intent? I highly doubt it! Just think before you start trashing a town!

SO is this kid in the DAEP and forbidden from walking to graduate like othere kids we have seen on here in the news or is he free to roam the school becasue he is a football player?

You know what i don't get - is that people don't get it! The it is ...... that all kind of folks get into trouble. Ministers, firemen, executives, nurses, football players, janitors, principals, daycare workers ..... on and on and on. We all are suceptable to doing wrong - but the vast majority DON'T. So stop preaching - not everyone is EVIL - there are some that CARRY EVIL - must WE ALL DON'T BECOME EFFECTED BY THE FEW! He was a person - well before he was a FOOTBALL player - and leave the coach and the school out of it. It all starts in the HOME! In MART and "Everywhere USA". Get it? You should!

To "Who Cares" @12:07PM There was also a "brawl" in Hewitt (another fight in the news). People like you who always use the words "WHO CARES" are part of this problem!! People don't care anymore and our kids are paying for it! Humans do dumb stuff and need to pay the piper when they make bad choices...problem is....NO ONE CARES enough to be a man and walk away!!!!!!!!!! I think that being a FOOTBALL player is bad news....too many head injuries maybe!! LOLOLOLOL

He deserves everything he gets he has always been in trouble.. but you still have to answer for the things you do..I think the Head Coach ought to be prod of his product he raved about so much lets see you all get him out of this one... come on Mart lets have some pride in the ones that are good in all areas and work hard to do there best...

That's what happens when you come from a small town with nothing else to do but make trouble. I'm not go put all the blame on the one particular person. There were adults out there fighting on kids and kids fighting on adults. One day their going to realize that it's time to grow up and raise your kids. But hey I went to school in Mart and that's all it's ever been about. DRAMA!!!!!!!!Quote that.

i have been to plenty of sporting events at mart, my daughter played sports and i also went to football games. sorry but i think mart is one of the best schools around here. i have always complimented the school to mart people when i am there. every child i have had contact with from mart were nice and mannerable. of course i was a visitor, i dont live there. but anyone from any district can get into trouble

what a coward we know it takes a whole town to raise a kid but a whole family to beat up one. What honor is that not only should he be punish but the whole group need to be punish not only by the school bet by the whole community . they should make them a example that this should not and will not be tolerated anymore if not now when someone doesnt survive wasnt that family involved in a tradgic with one of there own and nothing never came of that. we see have much they vavle life

Who cares if he's in trouble and no he didn't miss any football games this year. The season is over and he's a senior. After the state game I doubt he's even in atheltics. If he wasn't an athlete and if CenTex wasn't jelous of Mart's athletic success this wouldn't even be news.I wonder how many fights happened in Waco and Bellmead this weekend that didn't make the news. Get over it you clowns. And do a little research before making comments.

Kinda of remind me of Romance Taylor and what a waste he made of such a promising career.

Posted by: MartMan Location: Mart on Jan 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM
wow 10, you got all the good stuff in this one...Not that I expected anything else...I especially like the comment, "Officers wouldn't say if more football players were involved." Nice assumption that if one Mart Football player did it, then probably others were involved as well...why not run the whole program down because of one kid's actions. Xavier will pay for his crime, but don't let that be a reflection of a town full of good, hard working kids.

As we know him Zayzay is a quiter not a star he threw the state game and walked off the field and quit but you say star? If you knew the zay we knew you wouldnt h

Posted by: Sam Bam Location: CenTx on Jan 5, 2009 at 08:42 AM
Sounds like he is ready for the pros. Nothing wrong with a falling star. It just seems to land in the wrong place. PRISON!

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 4, 2009 at 09:27 PM
to 8:12pm.......I don't think even the coaches could have helped get him out of this one. And there will be consequences, they're probably facing about 5 charges, at least 3 state jail felonies. He's not a bad kid, he just had no guidance or positive adult influence in his life. In his mind he was "right" by helping out a family member. Some of the others involved were much older family members who should have been providing him positive influence instead of leading him to trouble. It's a sad reflection on the town, the team, and his family.

Williams should be scratched from consideration for the player of the year award. This is a much too-common occurence with people who have little regard for the law. Indeed there should be warrants & arrests forthcoming. Mart needs to run a tighter ship. There are some that are TROUBLE looking for a place to happen. Shut it down!

Posted by: carl Location: mart on Jan 4, 2009 at 01:53 PM
my coment is,he was never a star quarterback,or astar athlete,he was and is a quitter.to compare him to Quan, and Lee was a joke.He is just what you see.

Posted by: Patriot Location: Texas on Jan 4, 2009 at 01:51 PM
A "star athlete" in trouble is news??

Posted by: wouldnt you like to know Location: Mart on Jan 4, 2009 at 01:12 PM
WHO CARES IF HE IS A STAR OR NOT.... MAKE'EM PAY THE CONSEQUENCES.... JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. MART IS A BAD PLACE TO LIVE AND THAT'S WHY I MOVED.... I WOULDNT PREFER THIS TOWN TO LIVE IN!!!!!

Posted by: JASON Location: MART on Jan 4, 2009 at 01:07 PM
IT DOESN'T SURPRISE ME THAT THIS HAPPENED IN MART SINCE EVERY THING IS ABOUT FOOTBALL IN THIS TOWN. THEY ALWAYS HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE FOOTBALL TEAM BUT IT ALWAYS GET SWEPT UNDER THE RUG. MAYBE ITS TIME TO TEACH KIDS RESPECT INSTEAD OF WHAT HAPPENS ON FRIDAY WILL MAKE IT ALRIGHT.

Posted by: anonymous Location: mart on Jan 4, 2009 at 12:44 PM
This kid thinks he is too good of a sports star to get/stay in trouble. He is constantly starting trouble but too smart to get caught. I say he should get what he deserves.

Posted by: Someone Location: Near-Here on Jan 4, 2009 at 11:44 AM
Guess he needs some 'Anger-Management' classes!!!!!

Posted by: Bob Location: Waco on Jan 4, 2009 at 08:26 AM
Wasnt this kid in trouble during football season? I thought he missed a few games early in the season because he got into trouble.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 3, 2009 at 08:12 PM
too bad football season is over... those guys would probably have "help" from their coaches clearing up this mess

Posted by: John Location: Mart on Jan 3, 2009 at 08:05 PM
Star or not if the law was broke there should be consquences
