(January 5, 2009)--Authorities are investigating the deaths of a 9-year-old boy and his grandfather, whose bodies were found at Lake Lavon.

A fisherman called the Collin County Sheriff's Office about 1 p.m. Saturday after he found the child's body floating in the lake.

About an hour and a half later, the body of a man was found in the same area.

The medical examiner identified the two as David Edmondson, 59, and his grandson Noah Peel, both of McKinney.

Both were wearing life jackets.

A 15-foot canoe belonging to the two was also found in the area.

Investigators believe the two went to the lake early Saturday.

Saturday's winds were very high, and the lake’s waters were choppy.

Morning winds gusted to about 30 mph.

Please correct the spelling of Noah's last name. It is Pell...not Peel. Thank you so much.
