(January 07, 2009)—A grand jury has added additional sex charges to last year's indictment of U.S. District Judge Samuel Kent.

Kent is accused of fondling a second former court employee and lying about it.

Late Tuesday, the federal grand jury in Houston added three new charges: aggravated sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact and obstruction of justice.

"There is a gag order in the case which prohibits the parties from making any sort of comment with the exception of stating without elaboration what the defense is to these new charges,” Kent's attorney, Dick DeGuerin said Tuesday.

“They are untrue and we believe the product of intense pressure and threats brought against the complainant," said DeGuerin.

Kent is expected to appear in court Wednesday in connection with the new charges.

After the 2008 indictment, Kent was released on his own recognizance and remained seated as a judge.
