Overnight Burglary in Central Texas Erupts into Gunfire

(January 07, 2009)—Temple police officers are searching for a burglary suspect who broke into house and exchanged gunfire with the resident.

Officers were called to a home in the 2800 block of Eagle Road just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday for a reported burglary.

When they arrived, officers learned the man living in the house and the burglar had exchanged gunfire after the break in.

No one was hit by bullets, but the resident was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries he suffered after falling through a bedroom window.

One of the victims said an armed man entered her residence and was chased off by her husband.

The suspect fled on foot while being chased by the husband.

The suspect is described only as a man wearing all black clothing and a ski mask. It is unknown if anything was taken from the house during burglary, and the investigation continues.
