(January 13, 2009)--The pilot who died in the crash of a single-engine plane in East Texas has been identified as Ronald Vickers, 62, of Arlington.

Vickers was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Monday.

His experimental or home-built plane crashed near a landfill between Longview and Kilgore after striking power lines, authorities said.

AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co. spokesman Scott McCloud said the plane made contact with the power lines.

McCloud said no customers lost electricity as a result.
