(September 7, 2006)--The death of a 16-month-old boy who died while in the care of a Corsicana foster home has been ruled a homicide.
A preliminary autopsy found that he died of a blunt force injury.
Corsicana Police Chief G.M. Cox told the Corsicana Daily Sun that an investigation of whether the death was accidental or intentional is ongoing.
The boy and his 3-year-old brother had been at the foster home for six days before the child died Monday. The child's name was not released.
The two boys from Denton County were among five foster children at the home of the 50-year-old foster mother.
A state spokeswoman says the other four children have been moved to other foster homes.
She said all had been checked out and were fine.
Mesa Family Services, the private company that placed the children in the foster home, has referred all questions to the state investigators.
