Central Texas Authorities On Lookout For Patrol Car Thief

(September 7, 2006)—Hamilton County authorities were searching Thursday for a man who drove off in a sheriff’s department patrol car.

It happened Wednesday after a traffic stop on Highway 281, during which two people were arrested, handcuffed and placed in the back seat of the patrol unit.

One of the two was able to wriggle out of the handcuffs and steal a patrol car.

The vehicle was later recovered outside of Hico, but the thief remained at large.
