(September 11, 2006)--A United Airlines jet has been cleared to resume its flight to San Francisco after a security scare prompted its diversion to Dallas-Fort Worth Monday morning on the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The Airbus 319 with 50 passengers aboard was flying from Atlanta to San Francisco when it was diverted as precautionary security measure.
United spokeswoman Robin Urbinski says the flight was diverted after what she described as an unclaimed PDA was found on board.
Federal officials had described the device as a BlackBerry.
Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Yolanda Clark says officials had also found and removed an unidentified backpack from the jet before it left Atlanta.
United officials say the passengers were re-screened at DFW before resuming their flight.
