(September 11, 2006)—Fort Hood began a weeklong series of controlled burns Monday morning to clear live-fire areas for exercises.

A 90-acre test burn was planned for 9 a.m. Monday in a training area between North Avenue and South Range Road.

On Tuesday through Friday burns will be conducted in preparation for live-fire exercises on Trapnell Multi-Use Range, Clabber Creek and Jack Mountain Digital Multi-Purpose Range, Blackwell and Pilot Knob Multi-use Range Complex, Fort Hood said.

The burns have been coordinated with area fire departments as well as the Bell and Coryell County Sheriff’s Departments.
