WACO (February 5, 2009)—Waco rocker Ted Nugent will be inducted into the National Bowhunters Hall of Fame Friday in Las Vegas, not just for his excellence in bowhunting, but also for what he’s written about bowhunting.

The ceremony is part of the National Field Archery Association's World Archery Festival
.
Nugent took up bowhunting in the mid 1950s, about the same time he picked up his first guitar.

"I started twanging the one-string 'bout the same time as the 6-string,” he said.

“There was some sort of bow and arrow in my hands as young as six or seven, I'm sure.

“(I) got my first guitar around the same time and both have remained my favorite weapons to date," he said.

Nugent has sold more than 35 million albums and also produces and stars in the Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild TV show.

He’s also an author.

His book, "Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto," made the bestseller list at number eight in October.

"Ted has done more to promote archery in the last 20 years in all media than any other person," said Terry Martin of Martin Archery.

Ted Nugent is awesome for his contributions to bowhunting and hunting in general! My family and I have all watched and enjoyed his TV show Sprit of the Wild! Ted deserves this fine award, but thankfully it is not for his wrong-headed politics! But we forgive him for that one liitle mistake--Well, some of his music gives me a headache--way too loud!--other than that, we Love you, Ted! Plus you have a nice family!
