LONDON (February 12, 2009)--Britain’s Royal Opera is planning a show in 2011 based on the life of one-time Mexia chicken restaurant worker Anna Nicole Smith, who parlayed an appearance in Playboy into international celebrity as a model, stripper and reality TV star.

Smith, who was born in Houston, died of a drug overdose two years ago in Florida.

The show will have music by British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage.

The libretto is by Richard Thomas, co-creator of "Jerry Springer: The Opera," an earlier merger of highbrow and lowbrow culture.’

Director of opera Elaine Padmore told The Guardian newspaper the Smith show "is not going to be tawdry; it is going to be witty, clever, thoughtful and sad."

Smith was Playboy's Playmate of the Year in 1993, and the next year married a Houston oilman, 89-year-old J. Howard Marshall II.

After his death she fought a protracted legal battle over his estimated $500 million fortune.

Smith died five months after the Bahamas death of her son Daniel, 20, who was born in Mexia.

What's it going to be, a porn flick? What a waste of film. She was nothing but white trash with implants that some nasty old rich man paid for. What's the saying "There's no fool like an old fool". That's just sickening. People act like she was someone great. She was white trash plain and simple.

Someone needs to tell them Anna Nicole was born Vicky Lynn in MEXIA TEXAS not Houston! Mexia is where Vickie worked in the chicken fast food place. No tellin' what these Brits will do to her life story--which was already pretty unbelievable anyway! So sad for her and for Danny, her son. Her baby girl is Darling! Rest in Peace, Vicky Lynn!
