The first step in exploring a possible partnership with Scott & White was announced at King’s Daughters Hospital during a Tuesday afternoon news conference in Temple.

The announcement said in part, "the board feels a partnership with Scott & White holds the best promise to enhance continuing health care for the citizens of Central Texas."

“Due to economic conditions and a multitude of pressures in healthcare today, King’s Daughters Hospital, like many community hospitals across the country, needs to find an appropriate strategic and financial partner,” said John Cunningham, chairman of the King’s Daughters Hospital Board of Directors.

“The Board feels that a partnership with Scott & White holds the best promise of continuing to enhance the healthcare of all our citizens in Central Texas. We are excited about the potential for these two, century-old Temple institutions coming together for just that purpose.”

“In many ways Scott & White is a natural partner for us,” he said.

The board of King’s Daughters has also announced an agreement with Community Hospital Corporation of Plano to provide management services and to assist the board in developing long-term strategies during the talks with Scott & White.

The hospital’s president and CEO, Tucker Bonner, accepted the position of senior consultant for public affairs to CHC, while Gary Looper of CHC, assumed the job of interim CEO of the hospital.

How can Temple justify a stand alone childrens hospital, when Dell's children hospital cannot keep it's beds filled. Scott and White, Alfred Knight, is just a bunch of want-to-be's at the cost of the citizens of Temple.

I'm anxious to watch the criminal subpoenas fly. I don't use either but I was recently told by a S&W doc that they didn't want Seton because they didn't want competition. Unreasonable restraint of trade? Don't know - but we might find out.

To DJ, First, I am sorry that that happened to your father. Second, they couldn't give Seton a chance because it was a DONE deal when it appeared in the paper. People, be realistic about this! Why would it have been in the paper if it had not already been set in stone. I am sure they have been talking about this for some time, but the first time the public had a chance to hear about it was when it was published in the paper. Seton never had a chance, S&W already had KDH in it's pocket. I, like some of you have had the opportunity to experience medical care at both hospitals, and I have to say I have never had a bad experience at either one.
