WACO (February 26, 2009)—A federal district court jury Thursday in Waco convicted Fort Hood soldiers William Foster, 22, and Adam R. Watson, 22, of conspiracy to commit murder in an alleged murder-for-hire plot, the target of which was Foster’s wife.

Jurors started deliberating Wednesday after hearing two-and-a-half days of testimony, and then returned to court Thursday morning to continue deliberations.

They reached the verdict around 3 p.m. Thursday.

Federal District Judge Walter Smith will set a sentencing date on Friday.

Prosecutors alleged that Foster and Watson conspired from July 26, 2008 until Aug. 29, 2008 with Watson’s wife, Chantell, to kill Foster’s wife, Kailey, in exchange for $75,000.

During that period both Foster and Watson were serving in Iraq.

Prosecutors said Foster believed his wife was having affairs with other men while he was deployed and that he solicited the Watsons to kill her.

Foster removed his wife from a $100,000 insurance policy in June 2008, testimony showed, but then put her name back on the policy a month later so he could use the proceeds to pay the Watsons the promised $75,000.

Chantell Watson, who pleaded guilty in December to conspiracy to commit murder for hire, could be sentenced to as much as life in prison in April.

Sorry that things like this happen, but guess these two would rather spend the rest of their lives next door to the Holiday-Inn(Prison) than die in Iraq or Afganistan.
