GATESVILLE (February 27, 2009)—Coryell County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Central Texas teenager after they received a report that an infant had been treated at a local hospital for a broken arm, the Coryell County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
The infant was treated in the emergency room at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen; the injury was reported to have occurred at a residence in Coryell County.
When questioned about the cause of the injury, the child’s 17-year-old mother gave conflicting stories, authorities said.
Eventually, the child’s mother admitted that she became frustrated with the infant because he would not stop crying, authorities said.
She said she wrapped the infant in a blanket and pressed down until she heard a "pop,” authorities said.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services filed the report with the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 22 after infant was treated in the emergency room.
An investigation case revealed the mother waited several hours before seeking medical attention for the infant after the injury, authorities said.
Lydia Marie Chellette, 17, was taken into custody on Jan. 25 and charged with injury to a child, causing serious personal injury.
Chellette was released from the Coryell County Jail on a personal recognizance bond of $10,000 and is currently awaiting trial.
Injury to a child is a first-degree felony with a term of 5 to 99 years or life confinement and a maximum fine of $10,000.

step sister: you should have started that story with once upon a time because its got fairy tale written all over it. why would she be scared if she was innocent? noone could scare me into admitting i hurt my child if i hadn't. i call it as i see it and i see a bunch of relatives defending a MONSTER CHILD ABUSER.
This is to your stupid remark "Pro Choice"! You are a nutcase for your remark, "she should have had an abortion" - so...let's get this straight...instead of breaking the child's arm she should have sucked the child out of her uterus? Had YOUR mom made that choice I wouldn't be sitting here wondering what an idiot you are......
