COOLIDGE (February 27, 2009)—An investigation was underway Friday after an audit revealed that money was missing from the account of the small Limestone County town of Coolidge.

Coolidge City Attorney Scott Wilson confirmed Friday an annual audit revealed that a portion of the town’s money was missing.

Neither he nor auditor Kendall Stone would say how much money could be involved.

The case has been turned over to the Limestone County District Attorney’s Office.

Coolidge City Secretary Angie Allcorn resigned about two weeks ago and also stepped down fro her position on the Coolidge School Board.

Limestone County investigators have questioned her.

No charges have been filed.

Coolidge is a town of about 860 residents northwest of Mexia.

I know Angie and her family personally because I grew up in Coolidge. Therefore, I do know that her entire family has had some shady business practices in the past. I do not doubt her involvement in this fiasco. In short, she is her daddy's daughter.

I hate cryptic messages... "A failing business has friends in high places. Often things are not what they seem." "I hear the town of Hallsburg has been passing Coolidge checks." HUH?!?!?!
