WASHINGTON (March 6, 2009)—Some McLennan County law enforcement agencies will get a share of $610,557 in federal stimulus funds, Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, said Monday.

The funds are distributed through the Justice Assistance Grant Program.

McLennan County will receive $48,155; the Waco Police Department will receive $485,777; the Bellmead Police Department will receive $62,634, and the Lacy-Lakeview Police Department will receive $13,991, Edwards said.

“These funds will help our sheriff’s office and police departments hire more officers, upgrade equipment, and keep our streets and law enforcement personnel safe,” Edwards said.
