Texas Police Officer Killed During Chase
A Texas police officer who was struck by an SUV that other officers were pursuing died of his injuries.

CORPUS CHRISTI (March 11, 2009)--A Corpus Christi police officer who was struck by a sport-utility vehicle that other officers chasing after a disturbance call died a short time later of his injuries.
Police were withholding the 20-year veteran's identity until relatives are notified.
A police statement says officers went to a house across the street from Laguna Park in southwest Corpus Christi just before midnight.
After a brief struggle, a 21-year-old male suspect broke free and sped away in an SUV.
During the pursuit, the vehicle hit the officer who was standing on beside Texas 358 westbound.
He died a short time later at Spohn Memorial Hospital.
The police statement said officers later shot and wounded the suspect after he rammed their cars with the SUV.
He was hospitalized with what police say are non-life-threatening wounds.
His identity hasn't been released.

Here in Waco, I guess if the cop could have been considered jaywalking, then the killer could go free. It's okay to run from the cops in Waco Texas and kill somebody...
