WACO (March 12, 2009)—Several thousand Time Warner cable customers experienced intermittent outages Thursday because of the hotel crash in Temple and the weather overnight.
The 18-wheeler that veered off Interstate 35 Thursday morning in Temple, crossing two ditches and the frontage road before shooting off a retaining wall into a first-floor room of the Temple Residence Inn, knocked downed a fiber optic line, accounting for some of the outages.
The remainder resulted from problems caused by the heavy rain overnight, Time Warner said.
Crews were brought in from Austin to assist in the repairs.
The Killen area was hardest hit, but two areas of Waco were also affected.
The company expected to complete repairs by Thursday evening.
