Kids Drink Windshield Washer Fluid At Daycare
Ten children drank windshield washer fluid at a daycare center after staffers mistook the fluid for Kool-Aid.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Hospital officials say 10 children drank windshield wiper fluid after staffers at an Arkansas daycare center mistook the liquid for Kool-Aid.
A pediatrician at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock said the children, ages 2 to 6, are OK, but continue to be monitored.
The doctor said each child drank about an ounce late Thursday afternoon.
The hospital did not identify the Scott community daycare.
State child welfare officials did not immediately return a call for comment Friday.
The fluid contained toxic alcohols.
A pediatric toxicologist says those chemicals can cause kidney damage and blindness.

I agree that this was a stupid thing to happen. I am not a huge fan of daycares but there are some good ones. I never had to leave my kids at daycare but did work at one after my kids were in High School. It was a quality one. To Educator and Mandy What is wrong with kool aid My kids are young adults now and grew up drinking it. They are fine no health or weight issuse. Have you checked the sugar content in juice???? What is wrong with kool aid?

Gosh people..no one has touched on the fact that the WINDOW CLEANER was NOT properly put away..out of the reach of youngsters!!! For goodness sake's..these kids do NOT know the difference..look at the ages...could you read that well at 6 yrs of age? It should have been out of hands reach..just lucky it was window cleaner and not some other highly toxic cleaner.

Wow this is a sad story. Crazy how this could happen. I have to say that some of the comments on here are out of line though. Before you bash another state you might want to look at your own. I'm from TX and proud but we aren't perfect either. So childish to call people inbred and stupid. Maybe they think the same about you or people in your state. By the way, take a trip to Arkansas and bother meeting people and you'll find they are not inbred and no stupider than the rest of this country. Can't believe adults act so childish. Name calling, geez ppl.
