TEMPLE (March 19, 2009)—An 83-year-old Temple man who answered a knock at the door of his home in the 1400 block of South MLK Boulevard around 3 a.m. Thursday was struck several times with a handgun by an armed man who stole his wallet.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Temple hospital with what police said were non-life-threatening head injuries.

The robber escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Investigators are trying to determine whether shots were fired, although police said no one was wounded by gunfire.

The robber was black, between 30 and 35 years of age and about 5-foot 6, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.

How sad - why can't people leave others alone and mind their own business? I'm glad this old man was not seriously injured, but when this sorry not good animal is found, I hope they hang him! Yeah - MLK - go figure!
