Good morning, it’s Friday, March 27, the 86th day of 2009. There are 279 days left in the year. We’ll start the day in the upper 50s with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. The afternoon high should be about 70. Enjoy it, because tonight the temperature drops into the 30s.
On March 27, 1939, acclaimed contralto Marian Anderson sang in Waco Hall on the Baylor University campus. (Two weeks later she performed an open-air concert in Washington, D. C. after she was turned away by the director of D.C.’s Constitutional Hall, a decision that outraged the public and led First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt to resign from the Daughters of the American Revolution, which owned the hall.)
