DES MOINES, Iowa (March 27, 2009)--A young woman found strangled in Texas 26 years ago was a Davenport, Iowa teenager, authorities said.
Police in Amarillo said they matched DNA from the woman to 17-year-old Bambi Lynn Dick of Davenport.
Dick's body was found Oct. 8, 1983, north of Amarillo.
She had disappeared after going to a Quiet Riot concert in Davenport on Sept. 29, 1983.
Her parents filed a missing persons report, but it was cancelled when Dick turned 18.
Authorities thought she was a runaway.
Amarillo police say the Jane Doe Network contacted them last month after Dick's brother saw a profile online that appeared to match his sister.
Police said DNA from Dick's parents matched the slaying victim.
Police in Amarillo said being able to identify the victim allows them to move forward with their investigation of her death.

She has a very special brother to continue her search. He is a true brother.
Let's see, hmm, it took the Amarillo police department 26 years to identify the victim. Now they can move forward with their investigation of her death. If they work at the same rate of speed in this investigation as they did in identifying her, they should be able to figure out who killed her around 2035.
That is an incredible story. Especially after these many years to finally know what happened to their daughter. May the family finally find peace.
