CAMERON (March 28, 2009)—A 20-year-old Cameron man was taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple early Saturday morning after he was shot in the leg.

Police described the injury as serious.

Cameron police officers responding to a 911 call at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday found Renee Lopez lying in a field in the 1000 block of W. Main Street.

Because of the size of the crowd in the area, they requested backup and several Department of Public Safety troopers, two Milam County sheriff’s deputies and a Milam County constable responded.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call either the Cameron Police Department at (254) 697-6574 or Milam County Crime Stoppers at (888) 697-8477.
